[Tutorial] Changing Plat Logo and Text - Easter Egg (JB)

Files you'll need:

>/system/app/SystemUI.apk
>/system/framework/framework-res.apk
>/system/framework/framework.jar

Let's start!

Changing the Plat Logo

This one is pretty much the same, go to framework-res.apk/res/drawable-nodpi/ to change the platlogo.png and platlogo_alt.png, and you can head to SystemUI.apk/res/drawable-nodpi/ to change the jandycane.png, redbean0.png, redbean1.png, redbean2.png and redbeandroid.png.

Changing the Text

1st step: Decompile framework.jar

2nd step: Head to com/android/internal/app/PlatLogoActivity.smali

Go to line 151, the line will be like this:

const-string v9, "Android " 

Here you can change the "Android " text for whatever you want. NOTE THAT SPACE (" ") BETWEEN THE WORD "ANDROID " AND THE RIGHT QOUTE, THAT'S WHAT DIVIDES THE SENTENCE "ANDROID" FROM "4.1.2".

Now go to line 157 and see that things will get a littles bit complicate:

Code:sget-object v9, Landroid/os/BuildVERSION;->RELEASE:Ljava/lang/String;

The command sget-object is "calling a variable somewhere in the file. But we can change it to const-string, just like in line 151.

Code:const-string v9, v1.0"

Now head to line 198 and you'll have have this:

Code:const-string v8, "JELLY BEAN"

Here is just like the line 151. Change the JELLY BEAN text for whatever you want.

Code:const-string v8, "TUTORIAL"

Since this line is located under the other ones, there's no need to add space (" ").

Mission accomplished!
After changing everything you want, just copy/paste your framework.jar in the right place, give permissions "-rw-r--r--" and reboot!

TUT: How to Decompile/Recompile APK Files

Tools needed:

1. JDK
2. APK MULTI-TOOLS
3. framework-res.apk
4. BRAIN

 1. JDK- Download Here
         -For 32bit users only.. For 64bit users, find some on google :)) or here.

2. APK Tools - Download Here

3.  framework-res.apk
         -go to root/system/framework/
         -copy framework-res.apk to sdcard

4. BRAIN - Download Here

DECOMPILING STEPS:

1. Install JDK

2. Extract APK MULTI-TOOLS to your Desktop

3. Connect your phone into your PC.

4. Place framework-res.apk into the other folder.

5. Return to the root folder of APK MULTI-TOOLS
       -run setup.bat
       -run all 1. 2. 3

6. Choose Install framework-res.apk
7. Place your apk file into the place-apk-here-for-modding.

8. Run script.bat. Then choose 24 then enter, then choose 1 (depends on the number of the apk file you want to decompile), then choose 9 (after it, its the process of decompiling).

COMPILING STEPS:

1. Once you are done, run script.bat again. Then choose option 11 to recompile.

2. A process willl show, Wait until a "Y/N" appear, just choose Y then another process will show, after you chose Y, (DONT PRESS ANY KEY FOR A WHILE) go to APK MULTI-TOOL FOLDER and a folder named KEEP will appear, go to that folder then DELETE the resources.arsc and the res folder.

3. Once you've deleted the folders, you can now Press Any Key to Continue.

4. Now then, get your apk file in the folder named place-apk-here-for-modding, rename your modified apk you're now ready to install it.

NOTE: if you have problems recompiling the apk file, it means that you have an error.

3. Wipe Data/Cache (for some experienced users, you can go to advanced wipe and wipe data/dalvik-cache/system/data).
4. Go to Install and find the PN2K14™_A.01.zip
5. Swipe to Install, and wait for the installation process to be finished
6. Reboot and wait until you see a CAT PAW :D
